The gardens are now closed for the winter and will re-open for weekends only on 1st March 2025 and then daily from 29th March. Please note that Maples Tearoom remains open on specified days during the winter. See separate page on this site for further details.
General information for visitors
We are delighted to welcome you to our beautiful gardens, which have been created and developed by the Banks family over several generations. On this page, you will find a summary of information to help you enjoy your visit.
Admissions
A reduced rate is available for parties over 20 and for WI groups. Please contact the office for further details.
Season Ticket
Priced at only £32, our annual Season Ticket is excellent value. The ticket is valid for twelve months from the date of purchase and gives the holder access to the gardens 365 days of the year – even when we are closed to other visitors. (Please note that Park Wood is closed after 5pm, and from 27th October until 1 March.)
Holders also benefit from free admission to our Spring and Autumn Plant Fairs, and occasional promotions offered by Maples Tearoom and the Gift Shop. So go on, why not treat yourself today or buy one as a wonderful gift?
Accessibility
Wheelchair users are admitted to the gardens free of charge. There are accessible paths around Hergest Croft and the Kitchen Garden, which are marked in yellow on the garden map. There is also wheelchair access to Maples Tearooms and an accessible toilet in the house.
When the ground is dry, it is easy to navigate across the orchard from the Croft to the Kitchen Garden.
Please be aware, however, that other areas of the garden are not accessible to wheelchairs. Further detail is included in our access statement.
Dogs
We adore dogs at Hergest Croft Gardens in all shapes and sizes. Dogs on leads are welcome throughout the gardens, including at Maples Tearoom.
Footwear
Please ensure that you have suitable footwear: much of the charm of the garden lies in its extensive, sloping and natural character.
Paths through the Azalea Garden and Maple Grove are mainly grassed and those in Park Wood are very steep in places.
It can become quite muddy following rain. It is therefore essential to wear sturdy boots or shoes.
Group Bookings
We welcome groups to the gardens and to Maples Tearoom; however, these must be booked in advance. A reduced rate is available for parties over 20 and we are also happy to offer all WI groups special discounts. (Please call or email the office for specific rates.)
We welcome coaches throughout the season. There is easy access, as well as ample parking and turnaround space.
